GRADE 5 PYP TEACHER

Who I am as a teacher:

  • “That which we are, we shall teach.” -R. W. Emerson
  • “You can, I think, listen someone into existence.” -Mary Rose O’Reilley
  • I believe:
    • Every student is strong, smart, brave, and capable.
    • Meaningful learning occurs when students feel safe, and the light of their curiosity is lit.
    • To be a teacher is to guide the emergence of their truest selves.
  • I use inquiry-based learning strategies whenever possible in my teaching.
  • I get to know each child individually and cultivate a relationship with them.
  • I emphasize helping my students develop goal-setting and metacognitive skills to explore their interests and discover themselves.
  • I want my students to finish the year with confidence in who they are, a meaningful understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, and a passionate curiosity about the world.
