Who I am as a teacher:

• I have a strong background in teaching math and science. 
• My management style is more structured until the students show they can make mature decisions for themselves. 
• I believe children can only learn when they are comfortable and that their social-emotional needs are as important as their academic needs.
• I want my students to celebrate their differences as much as their similarities. 
• We discuss tough topics together, such as current events, race, gender, and class, even if we don’t have all of the answers, as a way to build community and understanding.
• I hope to instill in my students that mistakes are learning experiences and do not define who we are. 
• I love when students find ways to teach each other.
