UNIFORM POLICY

The ISM uniform policy is to establish standards of dress that support the school’s focus on students’ internal growth and development rather than on their external appearance.  ISM has a uniform dress code because appropriate uniforms reflect a positive and serious attitude about school and are highly correlated with productive behavior and good learning habits. Dress and apparel that unduly attract the attention of other students often precipitate disruption. This uniform dress code policy promotes student safety, reduces distractions and disruptions caused by clothing, minimizes any economic disparities among students, creates an orderly learning environment, and helps to identify ISM students both on campus and when off campus for field trips.

All students wear uniforms on a daily basis. CLICK HERE FOR FULL DETAILS OF OUR UNIFORM POLICY.

The Community Connection PTO regularly holds Uniform Swaps. These swaps are a way to help our community and our planet. Parents are encouraged to bring gently used and washed uniforms that no longer fit their child and swap them for larger, gently used, and washed uniforms that other families have donated. This saves everyone money and helps the planet by reusing clothes! It’s a win for our community! These swaps are advertised on the school website and on Parent Square.

If your family is income-eligible and you need help purchasing uniforms, please contact the Head of Operations and HR, Lisa Wichael Loomis lwloomis@ismonterey.org, for resources and additional support.
