Who I am as a teacher:

• I work to build a strong class community that is accepting and safe and fosters curiosity and independence/responsibility. 
• “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” - Albert Einstein 
• I often use flexible seating and try to utilize intrinsic classroom management as much as possible but am flexible in using the classroom management that is best for the students' needs. 
• I place a great emphasis on SEL, including explicit teaching of mindfulness and self-regulation strategies (deep breaths, yoga, community building, and identity work). 
• I love reading and, incidentally, often instill this love in my students as well. I love meeting students where they are at in their reading journey and helping them find ways to enjoy it too.
