Dear ISM Community,
I hope this message finds you well!  I am writing to share some of our latest good news and recognitions with you!  I am so proud and feel privileged to work in a school with so much to celebrate daily!  This community is amazing, and I am grateful to be a part of it each day!

At the start of March, ISM's Middle School was recognized as a School To Watch at a state-wide ceremony!  We are so proud of our middle school team for the support that they provide our students! Here is a photo from the celebration!  We've already placed our plaques and recognition posters around the school!

At the end of March, ISM was asked to highlight our support of Poetry Month in conjunction with the County Supervisors by Wendy Root Askew.  One of our up-and-coming ISM Poets from grade 4, Emma Miller, joined me in accepting a recognition and resolution on behalf of ISM.  We are proud of Emma's risk-taking and willingness to share her excellent language skills by reading a poem for everyone!  We will continue to celebrate poetry throughout the next few months!  Below is a photo of the celebration!

Finally, at the beginning of April, ISM celebrated three of our staff members whom the County recognized as employees of the year!  Karen Kushel was recognized as County Clerical and Administrative Services Employee of the Year, Angelo White was recognized as County Custodial and Maintenance Services Employee of the Year, and Dania Zalat was recognized as County Elementary School Teacher of the Year!  The Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) administration came and surprised all three with balloons and checks as part of the notification that they had won!  All three will be celebrated at an upcoming dinner and event in May.  In addition, all three will have their names added to the state-wide competition this summer!
