Volunteering at ISM

ISM welcomes volunteers from our entire community! Families are encouraged to contribute 3 hours per month for their first student and 1 additional hour for each additional student. All volunteer hours are entirely voluntary and are not required for admission or enrollment.

Our Office Manager coordinates volunteering and can help you find opportunities. You can also watch for opportunities through teachers and ParentSquare.

Logging Hours: Use HelpCounter in the front office or enter your hours afterward. All campus volunteers must also wear a visitor badge.

Volunteering With Students

If you plan to volunteer in a role that involves direct contact with students—such as chaperoning a field trip or helping in a classroom—you must first complete ISM’s volunteer clearance requirements:

• Background check – our partner agency is Uretsky Security
• Adult Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment Questionnaire
• Volunteer Emergency Information Form
• Boundaries Policy Form
• Volunteer Guidelines Form
• Confidentiality Agreement Form

Other Ways to Volunteer

Not able to complete all of the requirements above? You can still volunteer! Opportunities that do not involve direct student contact—such as helping teachers from home, joining Community Connection, or participating in other ISM parent groups—do not require full volunteer clearance.

For these roles, please complete any of the forms above that are applicable to your involvement.

Volunteer Drivers

Thank you for helping make ISM field trips possible! To ensure student safety, all volunteer drivers must complete the following requirements before driving students:

1. Driver Application & Pledge
Complete the Volunteer Driver Application & Pledge Form. Your application must be submitted and approved by ISM administration before you may drive.

2. Defensive Driving Course
Complete the Defensive Driving (CA Full Course) through SafeSchools once every three years. Contact the Office Manager for access. The online course takes approximately 20–25 minutes.

3. Bring Required Documents
For every field trip, you must have your current:

• Driver’s license
• Vehicle registration
• Proof of insurance

The teacher leading the trip will verify these documents before departure. ISM does not keep copies on file.
