Dear ISM Community,
This is a reminder that there is no school this coming Monday in honor of the Labor Day holiday. Please take a minute to give a thank you to all those who work, whether in schools, stores, outdoors, or at home. I hope you take time to rest and spend time outside and with friends and family as well!
In case you are interested, please read the short summary below on the history of the holiday.
Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. Oregon was the first state to pass a law recognizing Labor Day, on February 21, 1887. Read more here.
Have a great break and we'll see you on Tuesday, September 5!
Mrs. Allen
